Wednesday, from Tuesday evening

This edition is based on reporting checked through 7:10 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, October 27. The National Weather Service forecast for Manhattan calls for a mostly sunny Wednesday morning becoming mostly cloudy, with a high in the lower 60s. Wednesday night is forecast to begin mostly cloudy and then clear, with a low around 50. This is an evening forecast, not a morning observation; live prices, ticket inventory, viewing entitlements and betting markets are omitted. National Weather Service.

One difficult session reached across hedge-fund categories

For the October 22 session, Hedgeweek reports Bloomberg citing Goldman Sachs prime-brokerage data: fundamental long-short equity funds fell 1.4%, systematic long-short funds 1.3%, multistrategy platforms 1.9%, and technology, media and telecom-focused managers 2.7%.

The comparison is a look back at one session, not a claim about Tuesday’s close. In the reported sample, the multistrategy aggregate lost more than either long-short category; the category name did not buy a smaller number on that day. But these are prime-brokerage sample figures, not audited returns for the entire industry or four investable indices with a common construction.

The useful observation is breadth across named categories. Fundamental and systematic long-short were both negative, and the multistrategy aggregate was negative too. Without a position-level bridge, the figures do not establish that the managers owned the same trades or that crowding caused the result. Hedgeweek.

Makoto Quant Fund enters the filing record, and no further

An SEC Form D identifies Makoto Quant Fund, LP as a Delaware issuer formed in 2026. That is the verified discovery. The filing in hand does not establish a strategy, assets under management, performance, investor access or operating status.

The word quant in an issuer’s name is not a strategy description. The filing earns a short research-list notice rather than a manager profile. SEC Form D.

Oracle and OpenAI divide the enterprise-agent stack

Oracle and OpenAI announced that Oracle AI Workspace is being developed to bring Oracle applications and data into ChatGPT. The proposed workflow access is governed by organizational permissions and approvals. That is the announced design, not a security result independently tested here.

Oracle App Composer is designed to let teams use Codex and other AI tools to build applications connected to approved Oracle data and workflows, with Oracle deploying them on OCI. Oracle AI Security Mesh and an AI small-business bundle are also among the four announced offerings. Development and intended capability should not be mistaken for independently verified shipped behavior.

OpenAI says Oracle reports 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users. Those figures should not be added and labeled unique people: the announcement does not define that combined population. Oracle’s recruiting team also reports reducing one market-research task from two to four days to fifteen to twenty minutes. That is a company-reported, task-specific example, not an independently measured productivity gain across the business. OpenAI · Oracle.

Terra’s price is clear; its comparisons still need version labels

OpenAI announced GPT-6.1 Terra on October 26, emphasizing visual reasoning and computer use. The company says it is available in ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API. That stated scope is not evidence that every general ChatGPT consumer account has access.

Standard API pricing is $1 per million input tokens, 5 cents per million cached input tokens, and $5 per million output tokens. At those rates, a hypothetical one million uncached input tokens plus one million output tokens costs $6; replacing the input with one million cached tokens makes the arithmetic $5.05. Those examples come from the quoted meters, not from an estimate of any real workload.

OpenAI’s separate October safety update says GPT-6 Sol and Luna in Codex and ChatGPT Work remain previously released versions, distinct from the October deployments in ChatGPT. That statement is about Sol and Luna, not Terra, but it illustrates why model name, version and surface should be recorded together. Terra’s performance comparisons remain vendor-reported. The independently usable facts here are its announced positioning, named access routes and price schedule. OpenAI Terra announcement · OpenAI deployment-safety update.

Anthropic’s S-1 turns compute commitments into an operating ratio

Anthropic PBC publicly filed an S-1 for an offering of Class A common stock. The filing does not yet specify an offer price or share count, and the securities cannot be sold until the registration becomes effective. The economic detail is unusually concrete: revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2026 was $16.286 billion, compared with $1.163 billion in the prior-year half. The current-half figure is unaudited.

Compute and infrastructure expense grew to $8.945 billion from $2.334 billion, an increase the filing gives as 283%. Yet the same category fell from 201% of revenue to 55%. Anthropic attributes that change to revenue scaling against capacity committed in advance. That is a utilization and commitment-timing explanation, not a disclosed marginal-cost curve or profit margin.

Remaining performance obligations were $10.8 billion at June 30; Anthropic expects to recognize about 75% over the following twelve months, an expectation marked unaudited. That forward-looking measure is distinct from the historical half-year revenue figure. The filing also warns that rapid early growth may not persist. Anthropic S-1.

Wednesday night offers one seat and two incompatible plans

At 7:30 p.m., the New York Philharmonic lists Get Out in Concert at David Geffen Hall, with Michael Abels’s score performed live while Jordan Peele’s film is projected. The appeal is that exact combination rather than merely another screening. Lincoln Center.

The alternative is Jeff Tweedy solo at Town Hall. The promoter lists doors at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m., also on October 28. The listings overlap, so this is a choice rather than a suggested cultural triathlon. The Bowery Presents.

Both official listings verify scheduled events, but neither source was used here to check current seats or prices. The mention is not a claim that admission remains available.
