Shelton gets the Sunday appointment. Ben Shelton beat Frances Tiafoe 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, 7–5 last night to reach his first major final. He now faces Alexander Zverev, one win from ending the American men’s 23-year major-title drought. That is a title drought, not a drought of finalists—an important distinction amid the celebratory copy. Reuters
Today’s final has a pleasingly awkward prize structure. Sabalenka–Rybakina, not before 4 p.m. ET, ESPN. Rybakina gets the No. 1 ranking on Monday whatever happens; Sabalenka can still take a third consecutive US Open. The rivalry is 10–7 to Sabalenka, but Rybakina won their Australian Open final this year. Tomorrow’s men’s final is 2 p.m. on ABC, not ESPN’s main channel. This remains an operator’s account, not an independently reproduced driver fix. A modest victory for giving the machine eyes before giving it another paragraph of instructions. Original setup, September 11 result

The field’s name survives. Any assumption that its scale does also deserves a test. CME notice, September 7
The restaurant opening I would keep an eye on is Galo. Nuno Sousa, of Leitao, is bringing Portuguese petiscos, seafood and rice dishes to 142 West 10th Street, with a reported September 15 opening. The adega-inspired room and Portuguese wine focus suggest a Cervo’s-like appeal rather than another expensive tasting-menu debut. This is an opening lead, not yet a meal recommendation: the actual seafood order, prices and first serious verdict still need to emerge.
