Rybakina took the title—and the ranking. Elena Rybakina beat Aryna Sabalenka 6–4, 5–7, 6–2 last night for her first US Open and third major. She becomes world No. 1 on Monday regardless; the final made the succession feel less administrative. US Open
Today is Shelton’s appointment with history and an awkward matchup. Ben Shelton faces Alexander Zverev at 2 p.m. ET on ABC. Shelton is the first Black American man in a US Open final since Arthur Ashe in 1972; Zverev is 5–0 against him and arrives as the only major champion left in the draw. America’s 23-year men’s major-title drought may end, but the draw has not arranged a ceremonial handover. Final preview, US television schedule
Texas supplied the fourth-quarter correction. Ohio State led 23–3 entering the fourth; Texas won 24–23, scoring three touchdowns and intercepting Julian Sayin’s final pass. Nasdaq is making the first five night-session ports free. The waiver applies by MPID and port type—including trading, purge and drop-copy connectivity—ahead of the planned December 6 start. The important word is not “free” but “separate”: day-session ports cannot reach the night environment. SEC notice, September 10
Lindsell Train’s tender is a pressure valve, not a cure. The trust proposes buying up to 20% of its shares at a 5% discount to NAV, with the tender closing 1 p.m. London time on October 9. That is attractive beside the roughly 18% market discount reported in July and accretive to remaining holders if executed below NAV. It supplies liquidity; it does not repair the concentrated portfolio or the problem of valuing the unlisted management-company stake. Official circular and Q&A, FT account
