This is not a dining recommendation, just a meaningful bit of neighborhood turnover. Jake’s belonged to the UWS category of capacious, unprecious bars where generations of Columbia students and twenty-somethings could arrive without a plan. A month’s notice at least gives regulars a chance to say goodbye before another long-running room becomes a recollection with a liquor license.
