Apple TV Store rental in the US; 99 minutes. David Robert Mitchell directs Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as parents in a 1982 American suburb whose neighborhood is displaced by a cosmic anomaly. Familiar streets begin to collapse across time, and the mystery eventually admits creatures large enough to move the film from suburban unease into pulp adventure. Rent on Apple TV
This is the Saturday choice if you want atmosphere and an actual story without committing to a season. Mitchell’s premise offers the architectural uncanniness of an ordinary place becoming unreliable, while the 99-minute runtime keeps the genre machinery moving. The caveat is price and tone: the current digital rental has been listed at $19.99, and this is ultimately a family-and-creature thriller rather than an opaque Under the Silver Lake cousin. If premium rental pricing feels faintly absurd, wait for the subscription window. If the premise is exactly right for tonight, it is compact enough to justify treating the rental as the evening’s outing.
