Krill have announced Secret Language, their first album under that name in a decade, due November 13 on Exploding in Sound. Start with “Dominate”, released yesterday with a video directed by Heavenly Tedious.
Jonah Furman frames it as a song about growing up amid 1990s and 2000s American fantasies of power—an appropriately awkward subject for a band whose charm was always nervous intelligence rather than command. The reunion began when Ovlov asked Krill to open a Chicago show; Macie Stewart and Maria Jacobson are among the album’s contributors. This is guitar music with a little abrasion left in it, a useful counterpoint to electronic and ambient listening.
