At Soundmit in Cremona, October 2–4, Nori Ubukata’s Theresyn brings gestural pitch control together with analog synthesis and a pressure-sensitive touch pad. His account explains why: continuous antenna control makes rapid, sharply articulated attacks difficult. Pressure control adds another way to start and shape a note.
The instrument also uses sympathetic strings and a jawari-inspired bridge, driven by a vibrating transducer. Physical resonance becomes part of the sound. The fair lists Theresyn; advance reporting describes a pre-production instrument and a second prototype, Therewave. The maker’s own manufacturing notice reports delayed front panels, so treat these as designs to study rather than shipping products.
