A separate October 1 announcement from Anthropic gives the Barclays technology program more operational detail. Barclays expects Claude Code adoption to reach half of its developer population by the end of 2026 and a majority of software engineers in 2027. Its Claude-powered Colleague Knowledge Assistant has been live since 2025: Barclays says more than 16,000 employees have used it for over one million searches while supporting more than 20 million UK retail customers.
