The Financial Times profiles Peter de Putron, the founder and owner behind London quant firm G-Research. The report says the firm employs about 1,000 people and runs roughly $10 billion to $12 billion of capital, largely de Putron’s own wealth rather than the outside-client capital base typical of a conventional hedge fund.

That ownership model helps explain the operating design described in the report: compartmentalized teams, tight confidentiality and aggressive protection of intellectual property. It also changes the meaning of scale. The capital figure is not a disclosed assets-under-management number, and the profile supplies no performance result.

Separate visibility comes through Dorilton Capital’s ownership of Williams Formula 1 and a linked, disputed $2.8 billion South Carolina data-center and power project. A court-authorized deposition in litigation involving a former Williams marketing executive could bring the publicity-shy founder into unusually public scrutiny. The new information is about ownership, operating structure and exposure to public institutions—not evidence of returns. Read the FT profile.
