RGM founder Roland Murphy attended the Bowman Technical School in Pennsylvania. His new Model 501-EFB revives that local name, taking inspiration from a 1920s Patek Philippe pocket watch made for E. F. Bowman & Sons. The steel version costs $16,950 and debuts September 25 at Lancaster Watch Weekend. September 18 introduction
The attraction is the combination of white fired-enamel dial, blued-steel hands and small seconds, with a Swiss micro-rotor automatic movement finished by RGM visible through the back. Power reserve is 86 hours. The case is 1.54 inches across and 0.44 inches thick—39 mm and 11.3 mm in conventional watch specifications—with a 1.89-inch lug span. It has a quiet, formal character, with genuine local history behind the branding. At this price the dial, proportions and finishing have to carry considerable weight. The long lugs make a wrist trial important; no purchasable allocation was verified. This is an object to get to know, without turning appreciation into an assumed budget or purchase.
