Expanded afternoon edition — September 20, 2026.

Hommali opened September 2 at 28 Seventh Avenue South, near Leroy Street. Three Bangkok-born founders are behind it, with former Eleven Madison Park cook Chattchakorn “Benz” Khajornchaisan leading the kitchen. This week brought the first substantial account of what eating there is actually like. Dedicated opening report

The meal I would explore starts with razor clams, shrimp and scallops in a tom yum seafood cocktail, then tilefish in herb-and-fish broth with toasted rice powder. Add the fermented soybean–coconut dip with crisp battered vegetables. The menu offers enough acid, aromatic heat and seafood substance to make a coherent dinner. Confirm the batter and broth; the seafood fried rice needs a separate egg check. Current official menu

Will Hartman’s September 16 review describes a dark, library-like downstairs and terracotta floors beneath a large skylight upstairs. His recommendation of the chewy, dark-purple “forgotten husband” rice gives the restaurant’s rice focus something specific to investigate. A side order with a name like that should at least hold its own in conversation. First review

The unpriced official menu leaves value unsettled, and reservation inventory remains unverified. The food and room now give a better reason to visit than the opening date alone.
