Apple TV Store in the US; 1 hour 47 minutes; about $19.99 to rent or $24.99 to buy. Olivia Wilde directs herself, Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton in a dinner-party comedy about a fraying marriage and the enigmatic couple upstairs. Watch on Apple TV, current VOD terms
The case is adult company, a contained evening and four performers negotiating attraction and resentment through conversation. It looks lighter than a mystery series while preserving the pleasure of motives changing under pressure. The caveat is material: this is an explicit sex comedy, and the social discomfort may become uncomfortable for viewers who dislike cringe comedy. Rent it if that sounds amusing tonight; otherwise wait for the eventual subscription window rather than paying premium VOD prices.
