At the morning update, the US 10-year yield had touched 5.306%, its highest since June 2007; the 30-year stood near 5.634% after reaching 5.6517% Wednesday. Softer August inflation cut the market-implied probability of an October Fed hike to 38%, but did not produce meaningful long-end relief. Japan’s Nikkei was up more than 1%, the wider Asia-Pacific index outside Japan was down 0.2%, US equity futures were up about 0.3%, and Brent held near $98.15. Reuters, October 1.
