Vitor Mendes’s Iara opened October 2 at 205 Allen Street. For later this week: its official hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 5–11 p.m.; it is closed today. Resy’s opening interview puts Amazonian ingredients at the center, with tucupi, the yellow cassava preparation, and the tingling herb jambu.

The current menu provides an appealing seafood-and-vegetable route: dry-aged grouper moqueca with tucupi, coconut, vegetables and rice; charcoal-grilled broccolini, beets and turnips with kumquat–anchovy dressing; or snapper ceviche with cashew and herbs. Cassava crisps carry scallops, chilies and charcoal-kissed pineapple. The room’s counter wraps around the working kitchen, with warm pendant light rather than a white-tablecloth procession.

The fish route earns attention; prices and complete preparation/allergen details are not published. The menu also includes cheese bread and a Parmesan crab dish. Reservations release fourteen days ahead at noon ET; no particular table was verified available. Eater’s dedicated opening report adds the Studio WDM room and Brazilian furniture.
