Open Access: Exploring 130 Years of American Design runs October 8–November 13 at 303 Bond Street, Brooklyn. The Thursday reception is 6–8 p.m., free with RSVP. The listing supplies a registration route, not a confirmed place.
Five artists and design teams respond to competition boards, jury records, photographs and correspondence. The interest is in the constraints behind the beautiful drawing: who wrote the brief, what the jury could reward, and whose work stayed outside the frame. Archtober’s exhibit listing shows a 1965 Paris Prize competition drawing and describes reinterpretations of the archive. That suggests an evening with something more to discuss afterward than which rendering looked expensive.
