Park Avenue Armory is staging Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians through Sunday in the Wade Thompson Drill Hall. Alan Pierson directs players from the original Steve Reich Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound and the Manhattan School of Music’s Tactus, with the musicians encircling the audience and a connecting interlude by Caroline Shaw.

This is a 3½-hour durational evening, not a neat concert-slot revival; tickets start at $55 including fees. The attraction is architectural as much as commemorative: pulse, phase and handoff become visible across the room. For someone who already knows the piece, that is a legitimate new proposition.
