We begin with companies objecting to a new venue for tokens backed by their shares. The proposed OKXICE tokenized-securities venue now names 33 objecting issuers in its public notice. CoinDesk reports seven additions: JPMorgan, AMD, Applied Materials, Coca-Cola, Adobe, Dell and SanDisk. That is a fairly varied collection of companies to find saying no to the same market design.
A timely objection bars that third-party token from this venue. Under the SEC terms, issuers have 30 calendar days to object in writing. The proposed operator is a Texas company owned equally by ICE Holdings and OKC USA. Its notice is a required step before operations; no launch date is established.
And the thing being traded would be a third-party security entitlement. Shares held at a registered broker-dealer back the token one for one; minting and redemption connect the two. The venue itself proposes neither custody nor credit. So the backing sits at the broker, while the trading mechanism sits somewhere quite different: permissioned Uniswap version four pools on XLayer, paired with stablecoins.
There is no order book, and the proposal is for round-the-clock operation. The pool’s asset ratio sets the execution price; the smart contract has no price oracle. External stock feeds supply display prices and help detect halts. A stock-market price can therefore appear on the screen without being the price input that determines the trade in the pool.
My reading is that arbitrage through the mint-and-redeem connection could pull a divergent token price back toward the underlying. But one-for-one backing doesn’t itself force every pool execution to match the share price. That proposed connection has to reconcile a pool-driven execution price with the value of the shares behind the entitlement.
The SEC exemption is venue-specific and conditional. Broker-dealers retain applicable best-execution and reporting duties even though the venue would operate outside Regulation NMS. Alongside the proposed market design, the issuer objection process is already determining which tokens would be barred from it.
