The Design Museum's NIGO: From Japan with Love closes October 4, leaving one week to see it. More than 700 objects trace the Harajuku designer's world through vintage Americana, music, Japanese craft, BAPE and KENZO. A reconstruction of his teenage bedroom sits alongside hand-thrown ceramics and a full-size glass teahouse.
The attraction is how a collector's particular combinations become a design language. It should be more revealing than a procession of expensive garments, especially in its treatment of heritage references beyond literal reproduction. The museum is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday–Thursday. Published adult tickets start around $20.30 (£15.29); selectable inventory has not been checked.
