Texas beat Tennessee 20–17 on September 26, moving to 4–0 while Tennessee fell to 3–1. Colin Simmons tied the Texas single-game record with five sacks; that is the consequential detail behind a three-point result. Florida's 52–28 win over Ole Miss was the emphatic result in the other matchup flagged yesterday. The next rankings had not been issued at this cutoff.
